A planning application has been submitted to develop seven houses on the existing plot of Wylfa House.
We object to this planning application on the following grounds
- The density planned is too high for the area, seven houses on the garden is too many.
- The drainage infrastructure in the area is at capacity and building more houses will only add to this problem. The planning application contains no assessment on local infrastructure.
- The entrace to the site is inappropriate for the number of houses causing potential traffic problems on a slow hill. The planning application contains no traffic study.
- The garden is an environmental treasure trove with many trees and wildlife, with reports of badgers, bats and many species of birds, even possibly of greater crested newts. The planning application contains no environmental impact assessment.
The future of Wylfa Hill in Mynydd Isa it threatened by inappropriate development. This will dramatically change the nature of the area.
Thirty objections to this planning application have been received.
Time now to lobby the members of Flintshire County Council Planning Committee. These names are listed on the FCC web page. No date for the planning meeting has yet been set.

The Flintshire Standard has published the website as http://www.wylfahillpreservationsociety.org.uk. all I can find is wylfa hill development.
Hoe do you register ones objections to this development.
Also I do not think people are being given enough time to study and decide on this project.
Where can anyone see the notices about this project apart from outside the applicants house, and very few people ever go close enough to read it.
There is something I can’t put my finger on yet regarding this development, but certainly there should be know more building in peoples gardens, and is all that land down the wylfa hill the applicants, it used to be a small wood.
Full details of the application and how to object are on the Flintshre web site

I agree with all the planning objections on this site, and have voiced my objections via the proper channels. But what concerns me the most is I don’t think we will ever get a fair assessment to this development. Mrs Mcguill has been a long standing member of the local council and a major influence in the local community for a very long time.
Quote from the Flintshire website. “Councillor Owen Thomas has been appointed Chairman of Flintshire County Council with Councillor Hilary McGuill as the Vice-Chair. Councillor Hilary McGuill, who represents the Argoed electoral division, is the new Vice-Chair. A member of Argoed Community Council and the Community Health Council, she is a former member of the former Delyn Borough Council and Flintshire Local Health Board. Councillor McGuill is Chair of the Council’s Social and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Chair of Argoed Youth Club User’s Committee, a member of Argoed Sports Association and Governor of Argoed High School and Ysgol Y Bryn, Mynydd Isa.”
This all means friends in all the right places, How can the planning committee ever be completely objective and not favour there long standing friend…The simple answer is they can not…
This planning application should be looked at by an independent body….
i agree with the comment of mold road resident, it’s not what you know it’s who you know, and in this instance hilary knows a lot of influential people ! the residents should be listened to and their objections viewed, we have just had the liberal new’s letter delivered last week and guess what ? NO MENTION OF ANY PLANNING ON WYLFA HILL a big surprise ! that would have been the best way of letting all the residents of the Argoed area know what is happening, this news and information needs to be publicly known,
We lived in Wylfa House for 3 years when my family lived in Wales for my father’s job. It’s a gorgeous, rambling home with beautifully landscaped grounds and woods. What is this woman thinking tearing it down? She stands to make a small fortune on the sale of the 7 homes, I imagine. Is this her motivation – greed? I wish I could help do something to stop this. It would be a historical tragedy to tear down such a landmark property.
I must draw your attention to the fact that the applicant is still active on the council commitee, HOW CAN THIS BE A FAIR HEARING………………
All you people need to look at application number 047898 which is directly opposite MRs Mcguills land. Read the commitee minutes from this appliction and you see that she`s on the planning commitee. She even comments that she`s concerned about the demolition of number 154/156 Mold road…………………………
Mrs Mc Guill is not a member of the planning committee but she is a County Councillor. It is just sad that such a prominent member of our local community is seeking to demolish a house that many in the village regard as a unique feature of the area.
My understanding is that the builder that is proposed to build these houses, is also a county councillor, with a position on the planning committee. (It may be worth checking who on the committee have an interest in this project.)
The developer listed on the planning application for Wylfa house is indeed on the Planning Committee of Flintshire County Council. We understand that he, and any other so connected, will have to declare an interest when this appliation comes before the Planning Commttee
I can not find this application anymore on the flintshire planning website, has the application been removed…..
